- RADFORD CHEERLEADING -

The purpose of our program is to promote the highlander spirit at athletic events as well as throughout campus. RU cheerleaders lead the crowd at men’s and women’s home basketball games and travel to rally the highlander spirit at away tournament games.  In addition to cheering at games, the RU spirit teams participate in the various spirit, fundraising and philanthropy events around the university and compete nationally.   Both women and men are invited to show their highlander spirit be a part of the Radford cheerleading team.

 The Radford University Cheer Program has one team of 30-40 members.  This team of 30-40 is split into two smaller squads - the Small Co-Ed squad and the All-Girl squad.   The home and tournament games are split evenly with each squad cheering half.    In addition our primary mission of cheering on the RU athletic teams, the RU cheer team competes.  Although the competition schedule varies each year, the team ends its season with a trip to Daytona to compete at the NCA Collegiate Nationals each April.
